Have the "su" binary and other methods of gaining root level access when needed. Example, file browsers cannot read any files in /data or /system, there should be a way to do this, but with HEAVY warnings. Also having su at command line but make it more like sudo (password, and give a warning or something). Users who want/need root should have the option without making it unsafe for normal users.

The G1 has hardware support for multitouch, we just need software support.

Be able to tether over usb, wifi, and bluetooth

Allow a method to enable wifi in the initial google activation screen, so people who don't have a data plan can activate their phone.

Synchronisation with Google is great, but often I find I just want to synchronise with my computer; for various reasons (privacy, speed, costs, etc). It would be wonderful if Android support a full implementation of SyncML (or something even better), which would allow it to directly synchronise with my computer.

It's clear the G1 suffers from battery life problems. Understanding that 3G uses a lot of power, it's a shame that auto-sync, and wifi and GPS/cell-location features draw so much power.

I find the phone seems to use battery power inefficiently, and I'm forced to avoid the high-end features since I cannot afford to be tethered to a charger all day.

Give the ability for users to flag market comments as spam/inappropriate and have the comment auto deleted after X (prob 30 or something like that) flags. This would help clear up comments at little cost to the market maintainers.

Give the ability to flag applications as spam/malware/abusive. Have a set number of flags alert someone to test the application to see if it is deserving of the flags and if so, remove it. Have warnings so multiple offenders can get banned from posting apps to the market.

On the dialer, allow for speed dials, so pressing and holding the #3 for example, will auto-dial someone you want to dial. Tmobile already has the 1-key set for voicemail, we should be able to use the other keys.

When I press the green-dial button to make a call, it should take me to the Dialer Pad, not the call log -- it should be configurable, and I'd prefer the dialer pad.

Allow the phone to automatically pull app updates from marketplace

Allow the pull-up applications menu on the left/right screens to show a selection of apps (configurable), instead of having the same ALL APPS on each screen. Should eb able to configure it so that the middle screen or the right screen as desired would be the ALL APPS pull-up menu, but it'd be nice to have favorite apps showing on that pull-up menu.

This will allow the visual voicemail app to work better
